 New Post Doc from China
(11.03.09) Dr. Jinni Gu joined APC's Gut & Health section in January 2009 as a Post Doc.
Jinni is involved in the EU project Biomarkers for post market monitoring of short and long term effects of genetically modified organisms on animal and human health. In conjunction with Åshild Krogdahl and Anne Marie Bakke-McKellep, Jinni will study the effects of dietary inclusion of GM-maize and GM-pea on growth and reproduction in Atlantic salmon. She will also explore the safety of GM aqua-feed on the food chain.
Jinni earned her PhD degree in veterinary medicine at China Agricultural University in Beijing (June 2007). Her thesis was Expression and Activity of Phosphodiesterase (PDE) in Skeletal Muscle and Regulation by Herbal Medicines.
Jinni is currently working in the Gut & Health lab at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. She says, "I am so honored to join APC with its high international standard. I have the opportunity not only to pursue this timely issue about the safety of GMO (genetically modified organisms), but also to explore its global impact at a prestigious Center of Excellence with a dedicated staff of world-renown scientists. I hope APC will have further cooperation with China in the future."
